A jjimjilbang is a uniquely Korean facility combining sauna, bathhouse, and communal rest areas. Many are open 24 hours, making them an option for late-night stays. Entry fees are typically ₩10,000-15,000 and include access to sleeping areas, food, and entertainment.
2. How to Use One
Pay at the entrance and receive a towel, locker key, and jjimjilbang outfit. Men's and women's bathing areas are separate. Always shower before entering the pools. Wear the provided outfit in the communal areas. Lock your belongings in the locker.
3. Types of Pools and Rooms
Hot bath (38-42°C): muscle relaxation / Cold bath: blood circulation / Carbonated bath: skin care / Yellow clay room: far-infrared therapy / Salt room: exfoliation / Ice room: cooling down
4. Etiquette
Swimwear is generally prohibited in the bathing areas. Always shower before entering any pool. Avoid splashing others. Keep noise low in communal areas and avoid eating near sleeping areas.
5. Jjimjilbang Food Culture
Sikhye (rice drink), baked eggs, instant noodles, and banana milk are jjimjilbang staples. Baked eggs and sikhye are iconic — don't leave without trying them.
6. Important Notes
Entry is generally prohibited for intoxicated guests. Tattoos may restrict entry at some establishments. Use the provided wristband to charge services inside. Keep valuables in the locker at all times.
